New Player from Way Back in 2018! I'm a guild leader of small merry band of dads who play on the weekends. We had a poor experience with SotA back in 2018. I was an original Royal Navigator account holder back but sold it. We are dipping our toe back in the water. We played briefly tonight and I have to say that I am shocked at how polished things are and looking forward to playing more! For the old timers here: Is there good group content in the game (i.e. for 3 people or so)? We enjoy doing challenging group content and am just curious if that's here. Cheers and I hope to see you all in-game! -Padre
Welcome back @padreadamo. What kind of content are you looking for? There have been lots of nice additions since 2018 including more quests found in many scenes, new dungeons, new episode 2 locations (not main questline for this yet though), also many QOL improvements. Somewhere I have a printout of some things that have been added if you would like. You may know of some already though. Anyway enjoy. I'm Majoria in game if you see me on for questions or send a pm here or on mail in game.
What is a challenging group content depends on the members of your group. If you played the last time 2018 you might want to create new avatars to do all the quests from a fresh start and see from scratch what has all changed. And read Anpu´s guide for returning players: https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/f...ges-to-the-game-for-returning-players.164048/
It has been a long time. I remember very little from back then. We didn't play for a long time due to a number of issues but it appears many of those issues are resoved. We enjoy challenging group content/dungeons/boss encounters. Is there anything low level that we can do or is all this type of stuff at "end game?"
Here are new features added to the game in 2023 and currently in 2024. They include quests, scenes, capabilities, and more. There might be some things your group wants to explore. https://sotawiki.net/sota/Release_Features_2023 https://sotawiki.net/sota/Release_Features_2024 I have not consolidated for previous years (yet).
When you started completely new avatars you might want to stick to the questline for a bit to get more robust characters. After Solace Bridge Massacre (take up EVERYTHING that lies around and enter all buildings) you get to Solace Bridge Outskirts by boat and then should report to Captain Kidney and do ALL her soldiercampquests. Use cheap junk to raise your salvage skills and save money by using what you find to equip when its better than what you started with. You really should only leave when you get the QUESTS to leave from the Captain and from the blacksmith. If you do so, your avatars should be around adventurer level 20 when you get to Soltown as the next step in the questline.
greetings and welcome back check out some of these links for ideas: https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/index.php?threads/group-activities.173728/ https://sotawiki.net/sota/Category:Wave_Battle https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/f...s-a-good-starter-dungeon.169476/#post-1326903 the ruined keep is a classic adventure that is a lot of fun for lower-level player groups. also the ulfheim dragon is a lot of fun to do as well. check out Sieges too.
Both are in no way areas for lowlevel groups that just come out of Soltown. You either would need some highlevel tourguides who draw the aggro so that lowerlevel adventurers can survive those scenes or you need to do a lot more questing (e.g. Solace Bridge Outskirts - Soltown - Castle Atos - Ardoris and do all quests in every of those zones) before you would be able to stand your own there.
