    I'll echo what retro said. Range is important in a fight. If I could keep mêlée at range, I had an advantage. But if they ever caught me and got in my face, it was time for a dirt nap.

    Missed release 8, but reviews sound good. (Couldn't pass up the opportunity to go Volcano surfing). Hope to be around for Release 9.

    This was a triumph, I'm making a note here, huge success!

    Seriously, this was my first time playing and I fell right in love with everything from the combat to the gameplay, to the wonderful immersion in the game world. Looking forward to spending all the time I can in Release 9! <3

    Release 8 was brilliant, it was the first "Fun" release...and turned many of into PVP fans, myself included.

    We met in game in R8 defending a bridge, the story of our sacrifice to defend the bridge at all costs is detailed here for all to remember :)

    I know I sound like a broken record... but the way it feels like this is at the bottom of the priority list is heartbreaking.

    Would like to see more impact with strikes, And less crossing of our avatars so they seem more solid cheers. Also the sounds are often lacking especially that monster growl I would like to never hear that again!

    Expanding on this a bit, how about a bulletin board *in game* -- in each town near the entrance, where players could leave notes about such events. You could have them be magical bulletin boards that would sync up to the other towns.

    Yeah, I like that a lot.

    I think the sync up with all the other towns is important though...we're just too much of a global society to build in a localized solution.

    I'd really like that to also sync up to the main website too, so you could casually take a look at it, and get email alerts to your phone or whatever too.

    I'm giving them a pass on this for now since I think the most difficult areas the devs will have to work with are the multiplayer aspects, particularly on the infrastructure side (i.e. the background stuff that, if its done well, we shouldn't even notice). So they're sorting difficulty, tackling the trickiest parts first.

    I'm in that category too -- but, I'm wondering if having an opening cinematic may make it look more "pro" to new potential backers.

    Although come to think of it -- it might be fun for "immersion" or whatever to actually be able to *put up flyers,* paste them to walls, etc. outside of a pub or something to advertise an event, be it a tournament, play, etc.

    No doubt, I wouldn't want to take anything away from immerssion. But I also want to know when something BIG is going on.

    It's not going to help the game to keep everything a secret. There has to be a balance between local friendly gathering and big events that everyone should hear about.

    I was thinking about the "gems" you could view in the old Ultimas. You could have enchanted minimaps with various levels of enchantment, that one could craft or buy from other players that craft them, where increasing levels of enchantment show locations of monsters near or far; maybe a map could do this a certain number of times, and when those "charges" ran out it would go back to being a normal unenchanted map. (I'm thinking of things like the Marauder's Map in Harry Potter).

    For me, casting spell whitout reagents is a bag thing. I hope it is only for alpha test.
