No Open PvP World :( Ds said it into Alpha Im MADDD.

RG and SL haven't fully committed to any firm statements on how SotA would work in regards to PvP to date that I've seen, but they have alluded to the fact that they know the early model of full loot, non-consensual PvP led to griefing and drove more players away than it attracted. I never felt like that extreme without compromise was on the table again.

If people feel like they were absolutely promised this, I don't know where they got that.

I think compromises where full looting exists between those who consent to PvP, or in PvP specific instances were always on the table, and may still happen.

When RG said these things it was in response to exactly the questions about open-world PVP and so on. I appreciate it tho that you don't really follow what you just said yourself a few posts up, I quoted it for you.

Why would they even show up on a traditional PvP UO shard to promote the game? This will just stir up trouble unless they open a second server.

 

I follow what i say just fine. But the only argument some have is that "He said "this" which means "this" " and it either does or could mean something else entirely. Just pointing out that little fact.

They did, but the Q&A they did while on them still was in line with what their stated goals were. They weren't selling a different game to us.

 

Well, there is no requirement that something has to be written down to be valid? So of course people follow what the game creator says?
How is that not valid?

And matter of the fact is, he said those things when specifically asked about open-world PVP in interviews, and obviously many people thought similar to what I just wrote, otherwise we wouldn't have the forums filled with these threads.

It would be cumbersome, but possible. In UO, for example, one could spar with a guild mate, even kill them, yet not be flagged. So, create a guild named PK, and members of that guild attacks everyone, even it's own members. There you have the solo PK of old.

All other guilds declare and accept guild wars with all other guilds, every one are friends, and in FPO, we have open PvP of our own, in spite of Portalarium. The fact that we would even consider something so daft should demonstrate our resolve.

No link, but check out the interviews from back in the day he did with markee dragon, it was in there somewhere. I don't follow sota much, just here in the forums a bit, so that's all I got for you.

Many people, with expectations, tend to filter what they hear (read) in order to manage those expectations. Unfortunately, many do not follow up, with a cool down period, and make a second - and neutral - listen /read.

Possible, but i bet if the right questions were asked, then we would not be here today. I just wish I didn't have to work so I could have been there during the interviews. I don't play on either of those servers, I have before and great servers I may add, but to have seen them as I have done back in the day would have been fantastic.
