I often Alt-Tab to my browser while waiting for loading screens, or to check wiki entries etc. The game doesn't seem to pick up any other input (keystrokes, mouse clicks) but I often find that the game view has been zoomed in or out if I was scrolling on a page - it's particularly noticeable on the overworld.

Not the end of the world, it only takes a second or two to scroll back to a comfortable zoom level, I imagine it's unintended though so would be a nice change if the fix is simple.

I'm running the game on Windows 10 if that makes any difference...

    Pretty easy to reproduce:

Open SOTA on main screen, open up anything else on screen 2 (eg browser window)

Be doing stuff in SOTA, move mouse over to screen 2 and use mouse wheel to scroll the browser - SOTA will zoom too.

Note if you click the browser window so it has focus the behaviour stops.

Its not so much "if SOTA doesn't have focus it scrolls", as "SOTA ignores the behaviour in all other windows programs of only scrolling with the wheel when the mouse pointer is in that window"

This behavior is maddening and happens all the time.
I will disagree with @Scanphor on his statement of : "Note if you click the browser window so it has focus the behaviour stops" .
For me, even if I purposely click my 2nd monitor to be certain it has Windows "focus" - it STILL will scroll (zoom in/out) my game's camera perspective.

Yeah its not 100% - if you click in the browser window it doesn't - i've found you need to click the window title bar for the behaviour to stop, and if you click elsewhere in that window first that doesn't work either.

I hadn't considered the title bar in the equation, and it shouldn't matter that you click on the actual title bar to get Windows attention as long as you click the other screen window, but I'll try it.
That said, if it can be remedied by Catnip - it would sure get rid of ONE of the game's perpetual annoyances !

I can confirm that this does not happen in Linux.

I also have this little quirk. Since some people have it happen and other don't, it seems to me that perhaps it is a personal setting ... Something like "Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them" or "Activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse" (X-Mouse behavior) being enabled in the Windows mouse settings.

In my case, the answer would be, yes to both.

To actually contribute to the discussion this time, I experience this as well. Most of the time. I know that sometimes clicking in a different window stops the behavior, but not always. Will try clicking the top bar vs. clicking in the window next time I am in game to see if that makes a difference

I am completely on board with this!

Have to look into it though, It's been on the list for a while now. Maybe @DavidDC and I can dig into it during during R103's sprint. I think we are full up for R102's schedule.
