Playable?

    Hello!

    I bet its told somwhere on this forum but i need to ask anyhow.
    Is the game playable in its state and how often is the server up?
    Is it up all the time or close to it? ie. 24/7

    It should be 24/7 in December (with wipes, mind you).
    It will be also playable also during Release 11 (23-26 October) and Release 12 (20-26 November).

    Just a reminder the game is now (pre-)alpha and many features are missing.

    Currently you can access the game one weekend (Thur-Mon) per month. There is a plan to allow 24/7 access for testing by the end of the year, but that is currently only an estimate.

    The pre-alpha releases are playable (bugs and all), but there is no real game yet. Having said that, there are thousands of testers having fun. :)

    Like wise new to the community and very much looking forward to the game. My question is, is the game hard? And i mean that in a good way. Moving through the ages of games i've played from UO, to DarkAges and finally Final Fantasy 11 for over ten years i look for a game that is challenging, takes time to earn rewards, be it in crafting or combat, and gives you a strong sence of accomplishment. To often i find MMORPG's that tend to heavy to casual and instant gradification. As someone in my mid thirties i may be more of an "old school" player but meh!

    Considering that it is an unfinished product, there is a lot to think about in terms of how difficult the game could become. Depending on your playstyle, I believe that it could be as hard as you want it to become. We have to search out the quests and ask the townspeople what's going on, learn their names and get personal, to progress in a specific quest. Crafting is cryptic currently except for sotawiki and caverns' spreadsheet. The devs do give you a limited list in the crafting journal, however everything that is learned in the game is experiential. The best way to learn is by doing. Even watching tutorials gets overwhelming sometimes and it becomes necessary to dive into the mechanics personally.

    Anyways :D, it's unfinished, but combat is hard, pve is hard. Especially in the challenge dungeon which gets progressively harder as you go. The only way it's not hard is if you have about 6 hours of free time to flesh out the best current combat or magic fighting style, and hit up the popular dungeons and get some epic armors. Oh and stay away from the amazing innate skills in the lists if you want to have a harder time :p.

    As long as you don't post any dev+ access material ahead of schedule then I think it's ok. There have already been several people such as Violation, and Mad Hermit, that have posted streams and videos of the pre-alpha access. :)

    If you stream or post movies, Portalarium does ask that you make sure to prominently display a notice that this game is still pre-alpha.
