My First COTO Drop

I strode into the Keg and Egg Tavern yesterday for a pint of my favorite ale after a long foray into the Graff Gem Mines. I smelled of sweat, steel and Kobold but nobody seemed to mind. As I sat there quietly, I stared at the Bronze COTO on the table before me. I picked it up and the cool disc in my hand assured me the events of a few hours prior had indeed happened. You see, for years there were rumors that COTOs could be found in the wild but nobody had ever found one...until now.

The actual event is still a blur. I was mining for gems when a group of Kobolds and other beasties rushed me and to my delight a general melee broke out. Once the dust settled, I rummaged through the gem fragments and Kobold innards to see what was worth retrieving. Something looked different about one of the coins and when I wiped the dust and blood from it I realized what I had found. I don't know if it came from the Kobold or was mixed in with the gem fragments, but what I do know is the rumors are now dispelled and COTOs can indeed be found in the wild.

If this is old news and others have already shared their experience, then you have my apologies. I live way up here in Spite and it takes a while for news to travel. However if not, then we now know it is possible after all.

I got one skinning a large grey wolf the other day. It must have gotten stuck in the fur.

 

Maybe he ate it, thinking it was a piece of chocolate.

[edit] My dogs would be stupid enough to perform such a feat.

 

Aye, got me a gold one some weeks back, a tree had grown around the dang thing. It was absolutely gleamin'.

Of course, immediately spent it on art to spruce up the house, so I'm poor once again.

Meteoric Iron COTO in a shardfall.

Honestly I was surprised and thrilled. Very unexpected. I'll have to start visiting those more often.

 

Just be aware that in R33 they become multi-player only.

 

I got one iron and one copper from mining

 

Found a white iron crown on a wolf in South Ravenswood the other day. I had to pry it from his cold, dead claws.

 

I'm adventure level 70 and have yet to see a coto drop from creatures or gathering. Congrats on your coto's at least someone's getting a few.

 

Got a white iron COTO off a wolf in the Savrenoc Timberlands.

 

You're joking right ? If not what the heck is the reasoning behind this change ? Do they still drop in Friends online mode ?

 

Yes they drop in all online modes - what Barugon was referring to is what was revealed during the telethon; that Shardfalls and other PvP scenes will only be accessible in Multiplayer Online (or Offline of course).

 

The change is, when you enter a PvP zone you are forced into multi-player mode.

 

I've had two drop so far - Iron and Copper - both from general farming - only realised I had them when I got back to the bank

 

I got a Gold CotO from a timber wolf. Excellent find!

One question tho, @Chris. The dropped CotO wont stack with my pledge ones, because the pledge ones have a value of 0 and the dropped ones have a value of 250. Is there a reason for two different Gold CotOs? Will they spend the same, or is this one a bug?

 

The dragons in Grunvald drop Coto. Not every time but the odds increase with the difficulty of the creature. There is a single dragon in Northern Grunvald that is easier to take down than the three dragons in the shard fall area.
