Greetings Fellow Avatars!
This edition of Update of the Avatar continues our Parade of Homes, showcasing the Founder Lord Town Home and Benefactor Edelmann Village Home. Also have some new female avatar outfits to share, and news about this weekend’s 48-hour Unity Scene Jam #2!
Founder Lord Town Home
Artists Bob Cooksey and Michael Hutchison came up with a dignified design for our Founder Lord Town home! Only available to Founders (included as a reward in the Lord level pledge). An extremely spacious two-story dwelling, with an open-air roof deck suitable for crafting or entertaining:
Bob crafted an elegant interior finish-out, with stylish wood and stone trim. Here is a view of the entry-level floor, tastefully decorated by Rick Holtrop:

We’ll showcase the Benefactor Lord Town Home in an future update. It will be similar in scale to the Founder Lord Town Home, with variations in layout and external appearance.
Benefactor Edelmann Village Home
Here is Bob’s finished design for the Benefactor Edelmann Village Home. This home is available to both Benefactors and Founders (included as a reward in the Edelmann level pledge). It is a single-story dwelling, similar in floor space to the Founder Edelmann Home:
Here is a side-by-side view of the Benefactor Edelmann Village Home, Founder Edelmann Village Home, and the Shingle-Roof Village Home (included in Village Lot Properties):

Several more male and female outfits are almost ready to show, so look for them in an upcoming update.
Get Ready for Unity Scene Jam #2
We had a great turnout for Unity Scene Jam #1, with 48 total submissions! If you missed the awesome scenes created by the winners, then check them out here! We’re getting ready for Scene Jam #2, which starts today, Friday, October 4th at 6PM CST (UTC-6), so check here at that time for further instructions.
Viking Village Home Special Ends This Sunday October 6!
We extended the Viking Village Home 50% Off special thru October 6, 2013, so get yours while they’re still available at this price. With this house, we experimented with something that allowed for a larger variety of color, yet still appropriate for the time period and overall art style. The Viking Village home is a two-story dwelling, with a single large room downstairs and a wrap-around loft on the second floor:
Here are in-game views of the Shingle-Roof Village, Founder Edelmann Village, and Viking Village homes,on side-by-side village lots:
Absolutely beautiful.
Simply stunning the Lord home is amazing.
Wish the Knight house roof was designed more like the Lord home. But they are all amazing.
Awesome! Oooh, metronome in the background! *squee*
Great update. Thanks and good luck on the Jam this weekend!
I *hope* that the female plate armour has some protection below the thorax and above the thighs? Like a chainmail skirt? Otherwise, nice designs.
Beautiful artwork I must say… when will we start to see some game content instead of just fancy houses that most of us can’t afford? Lately these “updates” seem more like ads than project updates.. that’s just me.
I’m thinking that it is important to do the fundraising early on. It wouldn’t help them much if they do it a few months before release. Housing is also a VERY hot topic among the community.. moreso than you’d expect. The last update showed off some magic info and crafting tables. Every week we get to see new game concepts on Pen of the Avatar. Lord B just gave a talk about virtues/story. If you are a founder tier backer, in the founder blog they post a “standup” report almost every day that shows what each team member is currently working on.
I agree completely! Fundraising should be done early on.. and it was. The immensely successful kickstarter campaign has long since concluded.
We were promised beta access to this game in oh, about two months from now. I just don’t see an actual game to play yet.. hope they make their promised dates.
@Wadefree85 – I can’t afford this house either but don’t you think it’s fair that people that pledged this amount get to see what their property will look like?
In addition does it not make sense to release this so anyone that has been contemplating upgrading or purchasing this property be given the opportunity to see what they will be getting to help make an educated decision before purchasing?
You ask for game content maybe check out the 3 month demo, shows basic combat, crafting, resource gathering, dungeons, boss fights, questing, story interaction and so forth. Outside of that perhaps look into the updates section lots of content is being posted every week that doesn’t always make it into the newsletters.
Oh I absolutely understand and agree that it’s fair that this be previewed.. and I am aware that much more content has been shared than simply player housing.
I was simply pointing out, and of course this is just my personal perception, that these updates lately seem extremely weighted toward donation/pledge perks rather than on the progress of the actual game.
I love the look of my new home and I can’t wait to move in! I wish muy real home looked like the Lord Home.
It looks fantastic! I noticed that you guys put a lot of detail in the design I can’t wait to get in my Lords home. Didn’t we hit the stretch goal for a waterfront property? Is that going to be an either or thing? We either get to pick this home or some house boat?
Yes this is my sota home! Can’t wait for the game to be released!
I liked everything I saw. It’s all looking really great, but something doesn’t feel right about the armor. When I think plate armor, I’m think full-body armor with as little skin exposed as possible, it needs to be bulky to reflect the emphasis on protection. I like the basic pieces being used for the plate, especially the cuirass. That’s a quintessential body armor for medieval chest plate you used as a reference. The leather armor is looking good too, but I wouldn’t make it look like it has too many individual pieces. It should look tough and rigid like Mongolian armor.
Impressive. Great job!
The armour armour
is dysfunctional

The Armor is dysfunctional .
That’s great!!!!!!!!!!!!
The armor is odd, needs more protection for the upper leg and hip.
A good idea for a full armor – http://www.originalprop.com/blog/
