Release 45’s Postmortem Mini-Telethon is going to be Oktoberfest themed in honor of our new Munich, Germany based publishing partners – Travian Games! They will be helping us kick off the livestream. As we announced last month, they are partnering with us to bring Shroud of the Avatar to other regions around the world. Travian Games is lucky enough to be headquartered where THE Oktoberfest happens every year in September, hence our choice of the theme.

Question 1: Black Pearl was originally only supposed to be harvested during a full moon. If this is still planned it would make black pearl more rare than it currently is. With this in mind, shouldn’t NPC’s sell it for a much higher price, and shouldn’t the supply (even for NPC’s) be limited?
Question 2: Could we get an Obsidian style basement in the mold of Desolis? A large domed keep sized basement with the Obsidian Septa-gram on the floor?
Question 3: Bzus said during the last full telethon that he would take a look at the balance between staves and wands. Has he been able to do that yet? If so, what can we expect to see in the future to ensure staves are as powerful as having two wands?
Black pearl is already the worst reagent to collect, why would anyone want this is be harder to collect?
and limiting the most used reagent on a vendor? what are you trying to do, make it so people cant play the game?
Times like this is when reagent/resource quality would be cool. Black Pearl could have different grades depending on when you harvested it.

First, thanks for getting the pronunciation of my account name correct last telethon. It is indeed pronounced as ‘amazing’. Now let’s work on the Gender (Female – so ‘she’ not ‘he’).
Question 1 – Regarding sieges: Are there plans to change how / when these occur. Seems like all the towns are under siege at the same time (and under siege a lot!) which I would guess causes performance issues on the main world with all those fires everywhere.
Question 2 – I know the answer to this is probably No, but I will ask anyways. Can we get a little help with where all the recipes are now that they are divided up among all the merchants across the world? And before someone starts screaming ‘hand holding’ – some of us have limited time to play and would really like to play rather than spend our playing time making stops in every single NPC town trying to find that one recipe to craft. We don’t mind making the trek to where they are – we just need a little input during the scavenger hunt. Maybe something like Merchants A, B, and C in towns X, Y, and Z sell the exact same inventory. Or even better, have something similar to the Trainers who will help you locate a Master Trainer of a specific type. Example dialog: Don’t see what you want? Tell me what it is and I can direct you to a merchant who might have it.
Question 3 – Any possibility of putting COTOs on the Wheel of Fortune during a Telethon?
Question 1: When will sword and board plate play style be balanced so that it can tank enemies properly and not be a joke in a group due to massively reduced (as it should be) damage?
Question 2: When will a melee damage build such as using bludgeons or blade with berserker’s stance be balanced to be on par with archers and mages damage wise?
Question 3: Can you please stop adding things like supply bundles and calling them improved loot and actually improve the loot, currently supply bundles are worth less than reagents i can pick off the ground in the same amount of time.
When will Sota Maps be updated to include all the new maps/changes that have been made to the game since R41?

Jakub is a single person running a 3rd party service next to his normal job… At least with the SotA Navigator he could pop-up a please donate once in a while, now that it is integrated in the SotA client, that opportunity is gone as well!

Question 1: Are supply bundles regional? If not, should they be, to help with locating things like recipes and patterns with a regional theme?
Question 2: While supply bundles are conceptually great as rare rewards, they don’t seem to have done anything to help with the general problems of loot being poor. When will we see loot that actually has value, like crafted items that have been destroyed/sold to vendors?
Question 3: Winfield had a great post in the forums about fishing, and how supply bundles could help there. Since CotOs can be found on any node, can supply bundles have the same chance? Folks stash things in secret places all the time, so finding them while out gathering makes a lot of sense. Also, we really need to have hiding places like in Ultima VII, hollow trees, stumps, fake rocks, etc, where these can be found also.
I totally love almost all of these stretch goals! The only questionable one is the Tuba. We already have Flaming Bagpipes, so another flaming instrument seems redundant, and doesn’t fit well with the theme. What about a water tuba, that sprays out water and bubbles when playing?

Question: Will the POT bundles “go away” (expire) when the game officially launches near the end of this year?
[My hope is ‘no’ because I want to buy another bundle, but won’t have the $$ to do it until December 20th.]
Looks like an excellent telethon following another excellent release!
Question 1: Now that rentals are taking off and we have more inns and the number signs, can the tech for practice dummies be updated such that tenants can use them when the owner is not around? Most of my tenants ask for practice dummy on the property.
Question 2: There is demand for lot rentals in addition to room rentals. Room rentals don’t need to worry about home or basement placement because the owner already does that. However, lot rentals are a different story. Currently, a co-owner cannot place/remove a home or basement and if the co-owner is marked as a tenant, then they cannot move/remove/place NPCs (e.g. vendors and pets) either. That creates challenges for lot rentals because the deed owner has to place those items and when the tenant wants changes, the deed owner has to come back and change things. For example, vendors are frequently renamed to indicate specials or stock dates. At this time, that means the tenant has to request the deed owner to come back and make those updates every time. Same thing with guild charter house too…if the lot tenant wants to make the home a guild charter house (which the landlord may have no objections to), they can’t. Only the deed owner can make the lot a charter house, and the system would use the owner’s guild, not the tenant’s guild.
Question 3: Starr acknowledged that new basements are needed at the last telethon. Can we please get an ETA on when we’ll have those? Most of the current basements are not tenant/rental friendly (lack of doors and rooms, disproportional room size to common area size, etc).

On your first item… This was asked of both Pet and POT Type NPCs in the last telethon… Both received the same answer, suggesting that DarkStarr didn’t acknowledge the difference… but basically it’s tech they don’t yet have to separate the NPC from the Avatar/Account.
This answer didn’t acknowledge that POT NPC are already separate from the Governor’s account and function while the Governor is not online… This difference was not addressed, nor was any other limitation preventing the creation of POT NPC that could function as a Practice Dummy despite asking for clarification in the post telethon Question Answers thread.
Now that Portalarium is crowd funded on 2 different fronts how are you going to be held accountable for poor decisions? Will it be too bad so sad and investors will not get to chime in or will it be only investors get to input a say?
Question: When will we get a way to protect gear in our bags from being sold to vendors and/or from being salvaged?

QUESTION: Renting SYSTEM with Village Inns: 15 rooms and lots of common space – if i want to do a decent deco in the common spacings the tenants are reduced to minimal amounts of items:
15 rooms + common spaces
Lights 75 => 3 lights per room and 30 for the common spaces or 4 lights and 15 for common spaces
Containers 50: => 3 per room and 5 for all common spaces
Objects 400 => I did do the ground floor aas bar with lots of tables with deco on them so I used already about 200 for the big room alone that leaces the rooms itself with a maximum 13 objects

QUESTION: What are reasons for advancing Refining skills? they don’t give bonus items while crafting and are only needed to use recipes. But i never got any recipes who needed a Proficiency with more than 60 in refining?

I would like to know if we can have a Deed to purchase in the Store to allow Plot Owners to add an extra Non-Combat NPC slot to their property. Many of us are early settlers to Novia and were given many of these NPC’s like Hacked Seekers and Various Pets. It would be nice to be able to add an extra pet or Vendor to our property, especially when you have a smaller plot.

Question #1 I enjoy a spot of busking and travel across Novia visiting many towns and pots, most of which are looking very impressive. Any chance I could get a pet who would double up as a bag for people to drop money into ? Maybe a monkey holding a buskers hat.
Question #2 I fancy being a travelling salesman some of the time, any chance of getting a pet that doubles up as a container that players can look through and buy from ? Maybe a donkey laden down with swords, shields and armor for blacksmiths, bows and furniture for carpenters and bolts of clot for tailors.

Question 1: When I get a notification that an item is low on durability in the top right corner of my screen I open my paper-doll and have to guess which item it could be. Would it be possible if we can get the low durability items hued a certain color in our paper-doll? Example..yellow for low durability and red for nearly broken. Just a quick indicator on what items need to be repaired.
Question 2: When I press F the Social window comes up. In that window are player names and locations that they are in. We can sort players by alphabetical order by clicking on the large white Player Name text. I was wondering if we could get large white text next to it that says Locations and when clicked on it it would put locations into alphabetical order just like when clicking on the Player Name text.
Question 3. The great minds of the Kobold kind have made a device where… if you step in it and pull a lever.. after 30 seconds every item you wear that has taken durability loss is now repaired. It would act as a coin operated device costing much more than it would to use repair kits, the price of convince is a good one.. How likely is it that the Kobolds could create such a device and could we put it in our homes? (if you haven’t noticed from my questions I, for some reason, really find repairing my items very tedious.) : )

Totally Agree with Q1 and Q2!
Question 1: In Tenebris Harbor the enemy known as a swashbuckler wields a Flamberge, a two handed sword. Historically speaking Swashbucklers would have wielded a curved sword, a cutlass or scimitar, and a small shield, the sword being their swash and the shield being the buckle. Is this just a massive oversight or are you just using ‘swashbuckler’ as a general term for ‘pirate’?
Question 2: Now that the Norgard peoples are being more developed will you be going back to re-adjust the Viking bundles? The early levels feel very spartan when compared to the other bundles and when more shogun items came out you updated the shogun bundles.
Question 3: Assuming alcohol brewing is still on the docket for next release will the double food buff be replaced with one food and one drink or will the alcohol be more akin to a buff in drink form that lasts ten minutes as with potions? Personally I think replacing the second food with long standing drink buffs makes more sense, as you said on a stream that you would be using the cooking station to make booze when it first comes out.
[1] Plate armor is limited visual options. Any plans for more options in the near future?
[2] if I understand it correctly… Skill decay scales… 100 is 200%. Can we get another tier 60 points that is 25%?
[3] Another question on how skill decay scales, if 80 skill points is 50% decay and 81 skill points is 100% decay…. Does that mean that all the experience from 0 to 81 decays at 100%? Does that unfairly punish a player with 81 skill points?
Q1: Can you create a POT decoration Called “Target” and have it function like the training dummy in Solace Bridge? It would be a big seller in the add on store and a great addition to POT low level residents to train on.

Q3: When will Gold rewards be rolled out and will there be craft-able versions of some of them?
Q1 There are training dummies that can be placed on lots in npc/prt and pot lots. I believe one issues is that if you are not on the lot with permissions you can only access that training dummy when the owner is online/in zone (I suspect they don’t want you to do unmentionables to their training dummy).
Q2 I believe the guy that maintains sota map is out of kingdom right now due to IRL stuff, or so I heard. So I don’t think you can get the permissions to edit your pot at this time.

Yeah, that’s not really acceptable. There is a tailor crafting skill that is part of the game. I would like to make clothes without having to pay more money.
Getting one item dyeable is the first step to getting many items dyeable. Each item has to be have its materials adjusted to make dying work. That takes time.
As a full leather user, I want leather dyeing as much as anyone, but this should be nowhere near a high priority.

QUESTION: In March 2017 I could claim all rewards in Single-Player Offline and Multiplayer Online, now it states in Offline that all items are already claimed (Yeah they are in Online Mode). Will I in the future be able to claim all rewards in Single-Player Offline like the ones already claimed in Multiplayer Online?
Right now there is a fix for an issue with the recent Lord British Birthday rewards being blocked. My question is, since it’s offline, can we claim rewards again that were already claimed but lost from a character being deleted?

Q1: I have not seen any talk about helmet hiding lately. I understand hiding is not good for PVP and would like to suggest that when a helmet is removed the character must carry it. The graphics for all angles is already created and this is a normal real world way of dealing with a helmet removal.The tech is also already there for things like instruments and flowers.
Q2: In the painting “Desert Lion” There is a lion head with a door in the mouth. Can we have buildings like this that are small on the surface and we can attack large basements to them? This could free up lot space to use and make it “Larger on the inside than it appears”
Q3: In relation to the above question can we get buildings that the front door functions as the entrance to a basement? So small shack/cave/building that goes right into basement instead of the flat hatch access?
I know the hide helmet thing has been brought up a lot. I still like the idea of a “/holdhat” emote so you can toggle it off and on as wanted, carrying it in your hand/under your arm until you get into combat or toggle it back on.

Good question, but one should always apply the pattern Last after all enchantment is completed… That way the answer to the question doesn’t matter.
I do apply my pattern after enchantment and masterworking, but the questions stays, because raising skill in enchantment/masterwork more enchantments/masterworks (and better) are possible, I don’t want to craft my equipment to be scrapped and to rebuild it every time from scratch if i can enchant more steps
QUESTION: When will the revisit of the armor buffs be done ? waiting for it before crafting more cloth or leather armor (e.g. 0,3% Damage Resistence buffs for leather or cloth armor are more than underwhelming atm =0,3% from 1 or 2 = 0,003 to 0,006 increase absolut …yeah….)

Question: Can you state what your policy is in regards to limiting offensive content? I ask this because there seems to be a disconnect between game offensive material and content such as crushing little children, and player name selection where names such as ‘moldi dook’ and ‘flowin juices’ are deemed too offensive and are forced to change their names?
Q1: The player driven economy is a key component of Shroud. Why not let Trial Players participate? There are buy orders set up for new players in tiny quantities, but Trial Players are stuck selling their stuff to NPC’s, and thinking those low prices are normal. Is there some horrible exploit that is being avoided by doing this?
Q2: Death summons have to be done ever couple minutes, and don’t do much damage. Elementals get summoned once and only take 10 focus from the caster. How about switching Death summons to take health instead, so we don’t have to cast it 20 times during one adventure scene. Or if that’s impossible, make up for the pain somehow, like more damage. (Also, fireballs from skeleton mage summons don’t light anything on fire.)
Q3: It would be great if we could remotely search our Orders in the same way we can search our Vendor Inventory via the bank.

Would you remove the clothing override on the one man band pieces for the shirt and hat so that we may wear our own costume instead of being forced to wear someone else’s?
Also, please consider reducing the brightness of the torch relative to the light spell. As in my mind, the light spell is akin to something magical like burning magnesium, while the torch is simply cloth doused in oil. Therefore the cloth/oil should be less bright than the magic. Torches are cheap. I like my immersions.
I believe they intend for the Torch to be brighter than the Light spell by design, as a torch is a crafted object that needs to be equipped while the Light spell does not, and requires no reagents. The torch, therefore, has disadvantages over the Light spell, and should be more effective.
This is a common design pattern throughout the game.
Exactly, a torch is a crafted item made of cloth/oil while the spell is magic. I already said that.
I have never heard of anyone giving up a hand slot during combat for a torch. Perhaps they could add a slight stat buff to the torch for the people that do.
Question: When will Tenants be able to place their own objects on an object owned by the owner? For example, renting a room with a bed and table. Right now, the Tenant can’t even place a candle or a box on the table.
If your landlord did it right and rented you a room via a door and didn’t furnish it you would have the permissions on the items. If you are sharing a space with the landlord well its their stuff lol.

How often are maps updated?
The in-game maps, like the Map of Solace Bridge you get early on, were put on hold until the scenes are all complete. It makes sense to create the artwork for those once, rather than having to update them as changes are made.
The SotAMap integration is a stopgap measure, however it is a 3rd party website which has its own process to update things. Since Portalarium has no direct control over that website, they can’t make any content changes there. Hopefully Jakub will be back soon and able to make the updates that folks have been requesting.

Q3 As you level and ‘figure’ a build you can most certainly do this. I have commented on this in several videos to avoid equipment decay. When mining or harvesting stuff I use no stat gear an weapons — BUT that was after wearing alot of ‘good’ gear to level up in. WIth food and devotional buffs some of the higher tiered stuff I can still do with no stat gear but it of course takes longer (less crits, less overall damage, more incoming damage, more healing required etc) .. BUt using no stat gear for mundane hunting is very possible.
Question: We have harder to see monsters when its dark, do monsters has harder to see us?

3. I think POT owners should get free deco slots specifically for customizable signposts for use as street signs, like the street signs in Owl’s Head. All POTs have streets; we should be able to name them for ease of navigation and giving directions to people. “Turn right at Main st. and it’s the third house on the right.”
On Number 3, it was mentioned in the last telethon that Street Signs were a thing that needed doing… I have little doubt they will be done… However, I think the probability low of having a separate deco allotment specifically for street signs.
Street Signs have actually been requested since the very early days of Player Owned Towns, but have yet to be implemented.

Q1- REcipe trading as it currently stands is so difficult with the book interface, drag and drop one at a time and you have no idea if recipient has it or not. The person being nice spends 1/2 hour trading recipes and ends up with carpal tunnel. Same with emotes— You have to do one at a time even though these are in a list box. Multi select on emotes and option to have recipes in a list box with multi select would be a nice bone to throw to crafters that have been getting the stick far too much lately with no carrots.

What is CT time? I know CST which is central standard in USA but have no idea what CT time is.

hmm apparently CT is central standard time USA.. I live in CST, ie, Wisconsin. But have never heard it called CT time before… CST is what I know it as.
Even so, I am sure there are others elsewhere that don’t know that.. Perhaps times for events could be given in local time AND UTC for those outside of the USA.
CT is Central Time zone, regardless of time of year. CST is Central Standard Time and CDT is Central Daylight Time, so which you are in depends on what time of year it is.
The new in-game clocks will always the time in Central Time (i.e., New Britannian Time), so that should help. However, posting the UTC for all events would be extremely helpful.

Books for example can be rotated with R to lay flat or stand up, but items as mentioned above with right angles only rotate not flip as mirror image to allow better wall decoration and creative borders with weapons, as well as for bar building with the angled counters—(cannot use the straight ones because with the flip up counter cannot put items on it) Please can we have an option to mirror image items.
Question 1: Could we get Toggles in the Bank and Friends interfaces that would hide items that are Not at the current location, and Friends that are Not online much as Equipped Crafting Tools can be removed from the Inventory interface?

One can’t use death spells on undead efficiently (0 damage). Undeads are not living things. They are animated bodies. Ok

Undeads are immune to corpse explosions while it doesn’t suck life. Corpse explosion is about physical damages caused by the explosion of a corpse. Why undeads don’t take any damage from it ?

When will the Enchant “Weapons / Armor” skill be looked at? Currently the success rate on the third attempt fails in the 85 to 87% range. Please do not use the standard RNG excuse because I can MW items and have the standard breakage at 45-47% success rate on those attempts. HOWEVER when you go to enchant the third time, having the same success rate as Masterwork, it breaks more like you have a 15% chance to enchant item. I have spent the last 2-3 months testing this and YES it is broken, Lace has mentioned this as well and nothing has been done to fix this issue.
I guess SOTA just don’t care about Players from Europe, with all these Telethons late at night and on a week day…. The people from Europe that are playing must be so few, that you don’t give a shit about us?
1) As I’ve noted elsewhere, In completing the main questline it seems less “story complete” then “outline complete.” Will these be getting dialogue improvements, real choices, divergent paths, etc? 2) Can we go back to the quarterly telethons (even if that means multiple releases per telethon)? I feel like doing them at this rate is just contrived and we don’t get to see the items from one before the next. I’ve heard at least a little grumbling in the community about it as well.
Q1: Frequently around a town at night I’ll enter a shop or pub and the NPCs will be sitting in there in complete darkness. Is this a schedule bug that should be reported or is it a known issue on the road map to being addressed?
Q2: Why were supply bundles introduced rather than just randomly adding the items to the corpse? Was this a tech issue or does it solve some other game mechanic problem?

Why is the first floor of the Elven Tree town sized house considered outdoor deco? That seriously limits lighting, container count and decorations able to be placed for a large portion of the property.
