Kill trophies and bounties

    In some games there is the option, when you kill another player character, to take some sort of trophy from them. In Ultima Online, it's their head. In Diablo II, it's their ear.
    It's labeled, so it can be used to prove that you have killed that person, for prestige and/or profit.

    Would you like a feature such as this in Quest for the Avatar, and if so, how would you want it to be handled?

    My thoughts:

    I personally really like the idea of being able to place bounties on people's heads, either as a game feature, or simply through player interaction.

    For example, let's say I'm playing a merchant with little fighting prowess, but with my mean social skills I've come across a very lucrative business opportunity, wherein I'm tasked to smuggle some contraband from point A to point B. However, in so doing, I'll be exposing myself to various risks, and if I die before the task is completed, I fail the mission, lose favor with my faction, etc..

    The mission will pay me 5000 gold (or whatever constitutes a large amont of money in this game), so I figure it's worth shelling out 1000 gold to have a powerful warrior (also a player character) escort me from point A to point B.
    However, then my bodyguard decides to up and run at the first sight of bandits. Or, worse yet, stabs me in the back!

    As a weak merchant, I can't get revenge on him/her by my own two hands, but wouldn't it be lovely if I could place a bounty on the traitor's head?


    A potential problem is that it could be abused to create a lot of grief. For example, somebody with a lot of money could place bounty after bounty on a newbie's head, making it virtually impossible for them to get anywhere in online mode.

    Would it be better, then, to implement something like UO's bounty system, where bounties may be placed only under certain conditions? http://uo.stratics.com/content/reputation/bounties.shtml

    If so, should kill trophies always be available, or only from players who have legitimate bounties on them?
