Richard tweeted he'd like to be the first to implement this for MMOs, so view the entire conversation here.

    LetsTalkBitcoin:
@RichardGarriott Which major MMO do you think will be the first to implement #Bitcoin and what do you think this means for #RMT? :) #Welcome

    Richard Garriott:
@LetsTalkBitcoin I think we ALL will! While I'd like to be 1st others are ahead on the path.

Accepting them is easy. I want to be able to mine them.

Well, this does give new meaning to "mining" in the game if it worked that way :)

I would support this if I could be paid in bitcoins by other players for items/deeds.

sent from the future using my Coleco Adam

Bitcoins in-game would be very leading edge :)

I'm fine so long as it's one option of many, though it would be a way to formally exchange in-game currency with real currency...hmm

There are tons of services that will allow you to accept bitcoins and just convert them to cash. For retailer that want to use them as a payment system instead of an investment/asset.

I think it can be a good idea, add more realism to the game as it has a real kind of economy. Makes people think about how much money they are using and spending. However, as a thief and assassin I can see people getting very angry having there bitcoins stolen!

I'm not sure if making people think about how much money they are spending is actually good for a company who is trying to get the player to spend more money. ;)

True but as long as they are in game they will always spend!

Not a fan of this idea. Seems like an immersion breaker.

I am a fan. Great idea, wrong platform, or rather, the platform is not solid yet.

Until bitcoin is 100% stable and accepted by more institutions I would steer clear.

If a currency's price can drop because of a 1.5% cash out of assets, that just says instability.

Take a gander at the silk road bitcoin seizures and their subsequent impending liquidation.

That is good enough reason to treat it as a very primal currency that wont come of age for a few years.

Even the mere mention dropped the trade rates 20%.

If you want to trade on that, more power to ya, I'd like more options.

I fail to see why this would be a good idea. I try to stay open minded to new things, but to me bitcoins seems like one of three things:

    1) A way to launder money.
    2) A way to be a part of the uber techno anti-establishment crowd that also blindly votes for Ron Paul in every online poll.
    3) A pointless waste of time and money disguised as a get rich quick scheme.
