Will there be hitboxes in the game ??

    wanted to ask about melee combat did the developers announced if it will be possible to aim swings up and down (that your character can lean forward when you look at the ground ) that he can aim in the legs or head ??
    will there be hitboxes ? at least 2 ? (head) and lower body ???

    did the developers wrote smth about that ??

    I do not recall the developers ever mentioning anything of that nature. :)

    What we've seen so far is 3rd person and a selected, smart targeting. e.g. like WoW Instead of FPS like, like TERA, Neverwinter, ESO, etc.

    does that mean you not have to aim with a spell ?? like in ultima last target ???? thought the days are over that there are games developed with no aiming

    what mean smart targeting never heared of it . does it require some skill in timing instead of aiming ??

    You acquire a target. (TAB, click, whatever) You continue to attack a target even as it moves. As oppose to an FPS where you aim in a direction or you aim at a space.

    Modern MMOs tend to be aiming based, rather than targeting based but this is like an older one.

    ah ok is this already announced to be like this (when game is released) ??? or just in pre alpha ??

    if yes hopefully they balance it like uo that you have to at least cast always the right spell. get poisoned cast cure , someone want to heal or recall magic arrow him. someone curesed u to do more dmg with mindblast cast a bless

    In a game that uses a RPG skill system... I cant imagine how hit boxes could ever work.

    I don't see why not. As I said, most modern MMOs have you aiming with your mouse. There's no reason why this couldn't hit a specific body part. This is really no different from hitting one mob out of a clump.

    mortal online is open world have 3 types of blocks mid right left and have hitboxes and skill system

    head hitbox
    torso hitbox
    upper body left /left shoulder arm and glove defence included
    upper body right /right shoulder arm and glove defence included
    and lower body including legs and boots

    so when you see someone with boots crafted out of weak material to save weight people try to hit them in the boots

    There are action RPGs, which covers most MMOs these days, that are designed to some sort of skill system that mixes with twitch type response and user skill interfaces. However, RPGs are typically more character skill based with actions being the results of your skills rather than a twitch response. Action RPGs are a subset of RPGs, but that key difference means a lot. Action RPGs tend to be competitive more like FPS games where as RPGs are more tactical and strategic.

    SOTA is supposed to be the Ultimate RPG, so I do not expect it to have many, if any, twitch elements.

    Maybe... but still, whats the point in "Anatomy" skill if the player is the one with the knowledge on where to hit venerable parts and not their character?

    Personally... I'm just not into the idea.

    anatomy was for using bandages and to see if someone is a crafter , mage or fighter in uo.
