Release 70 successfully launched yesterday, September 26, with thousands of backers downloading, patching, and logging in to check out the changes! There’s lots of new content to explore, including:

Release 70 of Shroud of the Avatar goes live this Thursday, September 26, at 10:30 AM US Central Time (15:30 UTC). Release 70 includes lots of exciting updates including the return of Pumpkin Head, Ulfheim scene rework, Nightmares (new creature), new decorations, Spooky recurring items, new skills, and more!
I want to express a huge amount of gratitude to the players who tested the items listed below on our QA server. They found many bugs and also provided editorial feedback on this post so that it is easy to read and actually matches what is in the game. Read more…
The Release 70 Livestream is set for this Friday, September 27, at 3 PM Central Time! All Avatars from around the world are welcome to join us in the livestream activities. We will be talking about all our Spooky Stuff (Pumpkin Head, Nightmares, etc), touring scenes, answering questions, and handing out prizes. In addition we will have a special guest (and old friend) Rustic Dragon on the livestream to talk about the Kickstarter for Through the Moongate Part II! If you have any questions about the Through the Moongate Kickstarter please submit them in the forum post.

Release 70 on QA (Live Next Thursday)
An early version of Release 70 is on the QA server. Release 70 is full of new content and fixes, some of which is now on the QA server for early testing. An early version of the Release 70 Instructions is also available for review. We could really use everyone’s help to test all of this amazing content before it goes live next Thursday September 26!
Another content packed weekly Community Livestream is this Friday September 20, at 4 PM CT on Twitch! This week we are going to have a Saltwater Fishing Contest in the Fishing Expedition!
To participate in the contest go to The Fishing Expedition and start fishing at 4:15 PM. Boats in various coastal cities (Aerie, Ardoris, Kingsport, Mud and Port Graff) will take you to the Fishing Expedition Scene (you can also try whispering one of the devs for a teleport). The best trophy fish (longest) caught by 5 PM will win a prize! NOTE: We will be verifying location and time!

This week we have Colored Gustballs and a Double Sized Ornate Gustball Field. The Vault has also been updated with a bunch of spooky items including the very first Jack-o-Lanterns and various livestream items!

Release 69 Livestream Today!
The Release 69 Livestream is set for Friday September 6 at 3 PM Central Time! All Avatars from around the world are welcome to join us in the livestream activities. We will be having a Crafting deep dive, touring some scenes, answering questions, and handing out prizes. For Release 69 the exclusive monthly rewards are heat themed!

This week there are several new Obsidian Order themed decorations to choose from as well as a Bonfire. Also there is still one week left to get items from The Vault that are mostly from the expired Flexible Placement stretch goal store including the Knight’s Tents and the Large Stables! There are also some Obsidian Order themed items from the Obsidian themed livestream.

Welcome Quest Makers
You are invited to join the Welcome Quest in Release 69.
This is a Player ran event – Portalarium (makers of Shroud of the Avatar) is not represented.
This is NOT a PVP event. Please don’t plan on PVPing at this event.
It will be held on Sunday, September 8th, 2019 starting at 12pm (noon) central time/New Britannian time and lasting an hour. It is in your in-game Events book.
Greagoir Pendragon will be active 30 minutes before the event and during the event. So you can teleport to Greagoir Pendragon if you wish.
We are traveling to the town of New Britannian Market, which is located to the east of Central Brittany.

Purpose:
The Welcome Quest is a quest for all people to see many towns and establishments. It is created as a way for people to visit many player-ran locations. It involves each town and establishment to give the quest person some information and then instructions to go to the next location (a town or establishment) to do something. The path may be sequential from place to place or in parallel to multiple places at the same time. The goal is for towns and establishments to showcase their places, educate the people, and work with other player-ran towns/establishments. We do the Welcome Quest 4 items a year, one in each season.
We are proud to be the first player-ran quest in SotA! We do it for all of you.

Welcome Torch changes – testing and answers due to burnout
With Release 38, all torches changed physically. The durability started to decrease when the torch is held onto. This change also affected the Welcome Torch you receive from the Welcome Quest.
With Release 41 you now can repair your own Welcome Torches with a carpentry repair kit and a carpentry table.
