This makes sense because in the 6 month demo video, during the showcase of conversing with NPCs, the Owl's Head town guard made reference that they were not on the mainland.

Actually, there was a Lost Vale but that was a one-off self-contained scene I made shortly after I started just to familizrize myself with our systems and demonstrate a few things. Occasionally people slip up and say Lost Vale when they really mean Hidden Vale- the Lost Vale truly is, for the most part, lost to the sands of time and probably won't be making a come back. The names just happened to be very similar which was a bad coincidence.

Indeed! (Owl's Head on the Overland Map from the RTX Demo, identical in geography to the southeast map corner with the two rivers)

 

I see the problem now!

The overland map from the RTX demo is NOT what we are shipping with. It was very much prototype level stuff, and was done before we had the Hidden Vale mapped out. (among other things, Owl's Head isn't on the coast!)

 

All is good in New Britannia again.

Here is the latest edition. From watching the latest development video in which the map of Hidden Vale was being created, we were finally given a clue as to what each of the symbols on the artistic map are. I've pinpointed them here and put them in the legend.

 

I used some of the details revealed in Blade of the Avatar to help better place some of the prior locations.

where is the volcano we have seen behind Owl's Head? Don't see him at the map of Vale.

 

I added that to the map over the weekend; I wasn't aware of it when I created this version on Friday. Thanks for pointing it out though; extra eyes are always nice.
